Mara has hometowns up and down the I-5 corridor, including Tacoma WA, Medford OR, Davis CA, Reno NV and Eugene OR. She holds degrees in Medieval Studies and Media Studies, deciding to skip over everything that happened between 1500 A.D. and 1940 A.D. She started cartooning and making zines after finishing college. Primarily self-taught, her most extensive art education came through The Adventure School for Ladies: Comics Intensive in 2012. It was there she learned about photo blue pencils, the magic of Adobe Photoshop, and using color.
Mara works in watercolor pencil and ink. She loves drawing animals, especially bears. Mara currently lives in Eugene, Oregon and works as a library assistant in addition to her illustration work.
